WEST HAVEN -- A dark road and an empty gas tank contributed to a crash Wednesday night that sent a woman to the hospital.
Randy Popp, about 62 years old, of West Haven, was riding his motorcycle east on 4000 South near 3000 West around 9:43 p.m. when he ran out of gas, Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Brent Butler said. Popp got off the motorcycle and left it, upright on its kickstand, about 3 feet in the travel lane, while he flagged down a westbound motorist.
Brandy Greer, 31, heading eastbound in a 1995 Nissan pickup truck, did not see the motorcycle on the dark road and hit it, Butler said. The pickup and the motorcycle both went into the ditch, and Greer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Popp was not injured.
The motorcycle was totaled, Butler said.
