OGDEN -- A 54-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault for an altercation that resulted in his allegedly sticking a pitchfork through another man's hand.
The incident started when Louie Wayne Ash Jr. got into a verbal argument sometime Wednesday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in 2nd District Court in Ogden.
The situation escalated when Ash allegedly pushed a woman, causing her to hit her head and lose consciousness.
The woman's boyfriend then became involved, according to the affidavit, and a pushing match between the man and Ash ensued. Ash then grabbed a pitchfork and stabbed it through the man's left hand, documents state.
Ash was booked Wednesday into Weber County Jail, according to jail records.
According to court records, Ash has a history of incidents with the law, though the circumstances of those are unclear.
In 2002, he was arrested in Weber County as a fugitive from justice. He was wanted in California, but court records are unclear about what charges he faced in the state or if he was ever extradited.
Ash was charged Thursday with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and assault, a class B misdemeanor.
He was scheduled to appear in court today.
