LOGAN -- A 26-year-old Utah man blamed for the deaths of two men in a crash seven years ago is telling his story in a new documentary about texting and driving.
South Jordan resident Reggie Shaw, formerly of Tremonton, says appearing in the documentary "From One Second to the Next" was one of the most difficult things he has ever done.
Shaw says award-winning director Werner Herzog asked tougher questions than he's faced before.
Shaw had been texting while driving on Sept. 22, 2006, when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line on the highway between Logan and Tremonton.
Shaw's vehicle clipped a Saturn with two rocket scientists inside. The Saturn spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by a pickup truck, killing James Furfaro, 38, and Keith O'Dell, 50.
Herzog's documentary was distributed by AT&T to more than 40,000 high schools.
"I never thought anything like this could happen to me," Shaw said at a March 2010 safety event at Syracuse High School. "But it did. And in an instant, my life and the lives of many others were changed forever."
