NORTH SALT LAKE -- Construction happens, even on Sunday, as one man found out on his way to church.
A man driving along 850 W. 3800 South in North Salt Lake on his way to church ignored the sign that said the road was closed, said Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
"He bypassed the large 'road closed' sign and drove on the newly paved road up to the construction crews," Poulsen said.
He then told the construction crew he "worked in construction and knew they weren't supposed to work on Sundays, then peeled out and drove off, leaving damage to the newly paved road," Poulsen said.
The crew wrote down his license plate number, called the sheriff's office, and deputies found the man at his home, where he was cited for driving on a closed roadway.
The crew repaired the damage the man did to the new road.
Poulsen said road construction is done on Sundays when there is the least amount of traffic.
