FARMINGTON - Crews responded to a brush fire on the mountain side above Lagoon late Friday night.
A ring of fire could be seen from Lagoon and surrounding areas. Smoke and flames were visible for miles away. The fire began near Firebreak Road and 100 North.
Deputy Mike Ditolla of the Davis Sheriff's Office said the fire had burned 15 acres as of 11 p.m.
Seven agencies, including crews from the National Forest Service, worked to keep the fire above Firebreak Road and away from private property and structures.
It is unknown how the fire began, but investigators believe it was man made and are questioning five individuals who may be connected, Ditolla said.
With water sources too far away, brush teams contained the fire by moving earth and back burns.
It is unknown how long it would take for crews to fully contain the fire, but they will remain there overnight.
So far no resources from the other brush fires around the state have been pulled away to assist.
