CLINTON -- The unveiling of the Clinton Veteran's Memorial Rock and name bricks will take place at 7 p.m. today at Veterans Park.

The two-face memorial rock is more than 7 feet long and stands 4 feet high, Clinton City Manager Dennis Cluff said.

"The rock is currently boxed up, but will be unveiled this Wednesday," Cluff said.

The memorial, which consists of about 100 name bricks, the rock and a flag pole, is in Veterans Park, 1000 W. 1800 North.

The $5,200 memorial rock was funded through donations, the selling of the engraved name bricks and a contribution from the city, Cluff said.

As more name bricks sell, the city's contribution to the project will be reimbursed, he said.

"The exciting thing is that we are going to have a memorial at Veterans Park," Cluff said. "It is something that we have been looking at doing for some time."

Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
