CLEARFIELD -- Life Flight was called out to airlift a young boy to the hospital Wednesday evening after he was struck by a vehicle.
The accident occurred near Clearfield High School at the intersection of 1000 East and 1100 South, around 7 p.m., Clearfield Sgt. Kyle Jefferies said.
The victim, who is 13 years old, was skateboarding southbound on 1000 East. He turned off the sidewalk and into the road, Jefferies said.
The boy then slipped and fell in front of an oncoming car that was traveling westbound on 1100 South. The driver reportedly did not see him in time to stop. The car rolled on top of the boy, pinning him underneath.
Police arrived and, with the help of neighbors, lifted the vehicle off the boy with jacks.
They used bricks and boards to keep the vehicle suspended until paramedics could safely remove the boy.
He was taken in serious condition to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
He was reported in stable condition Thursday morning.
The driver will most likely not be charged, as it was just a horrible accident, Jefferies said.
