Blanche Slater Gibby, 93, died in her Washington, Utah home on August 23, 2013, having lived an active life. She was born November 24, 1919 to John Lawrence and Sarah Ann Slater. They were kind and devoted parents who taught their fourteen children to love and serve the Lord.
She married the man of her dreams, E. Grant Gibby. They lived in Roy, Riverdale and Washington, Utah. Grant preceded her in death. As active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Blanche served twenty-seven years in the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association, as Ward and Stake Relief Society President, and for thirty years as a temple worker in the Ogden and St. George Temples. In 1989 she was called to be an Assistant to the Matron of the St. George Temple.
She is survived by her sister, Venice (LeRoy) Poll, and by her six children, Alan (Laurie) Gibby, David (Lisa) Gibby, Roger (Marilyn) Gibby, Janet (Doug) Cox, Susan (Larry) Hancock, and Bryce (Jean) Gibby. Blanche has thirty four grandchildren and 98 great-grand children. She often said, "I wouldn't change one day of my life."
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverdale Stake Center, 4000 South Parker Drive, Riverdale, Utah. Her viewing will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West Roy, Utah, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church.
Interment in Washington Heights Memorial Park.
