OGDEN -- Schools will enjoy an extra level of police attention Monday as Ogden schools open and students return to class.
Extra officers will be on duty as schedules are adjusted to provide additional patrol and traffic enforcement around schools, Lt. Danielle Croyle said.
School zone speed limits will be closely monitored and extra attention given student safety, she said. "We will be out in force."
The Ogden School District's three high schools, four junior highs and 17 elementary schools will all receive the extra coverage during school hours, Croyle said. School resource officers will also be coordinating closely with crossing guards.
In between regular service calls, all patrol officers will be returning to school zones citywide, she said. "We plan to have a higher focus all year on student safety and truancy, and assisting parents in getting their children to school," said Croyle.
