CLEARFIELD -- Sewer rates will increase by $1.50 per month following a vote by the city council on Aug. 20. The council approved the increase after the city received word it will be paying an additional $1.50 per month per customer to North Davis Sewer District.
Initially users will see a $3 increase, because the increase to the city took effect a month ago. City Manager Adam Lenhard, in a discussion with the council, said the city was unaware of the increase, which was approved a year ago. He said the city passed a $1.50 increase on to users last year but did not know in a timely manner that the district was increasing rates again this year.
Additionally, he advised the council that the district has approved another $1.50 increase for 2014.
Council members directed that users initially be charged $3 for July and August and $1.50 per month for billing beginning the month after that.
Users will also see their rates increased by another $1.50 per month next year to cover the increased city costs with the sewer district.
