ROY -- An LDS missionary from Roy died Sunday in Malaysia.Elder Jason Reid Wiberg, 19, has died from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a vehicle Saturday while riding his bike in Kuching, Malaysia.Wiberg was serving in the Singapore Mission and had been a full-time missionary since October 2012, according to a statement from Ruth Todd, spokeswoman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In a statement provided by Reid and Janice Wiberg, the missionary's parents, the family expressed appreciation for their son's companion and all the medical personnel who worked to save his life."After his accident, his companion provided immediate first aid," the statement read. "Paramedics arrived quickly, and he was transported to a hospital where he was stabilized."The statement said that Wiberg was later transferred to a larger, more advanced hospital, where he was provided treatment."In spite of the quick and excellent treatment he received, his condition deteriorated," said the statement."Jason's organs were donated for transplant, so he can continue to help and be with the people of Malaysia he so dearly loved. His missionary work will continue in the spirit world."The family also expressed appreciation and love to all those who had been praying for Wiberg."We all hoped for a miracle yet are comfortable with the knowledge and accept that God has other plans for Jason at this time," said the statement.
