Richard Dee and Caroldyn Smoot Francis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family at their home in Fruit Heights on Aug. 10.
They were married Aug. 12, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
They settled in Logan, and he completed Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. Later they settled in Fruit Heights.
Both worked for Davis School District, and he also worked for Weber State University. They retired after 70 years of combined employment, working with many students who attended Clearfield High School. They enjoyed serving the young people of Davis County.
As members of the LDS Church, they held many callings in the stake and ward levels where they lived. After their retirement in June 1996, they served a church service mission in Salt Lake City on Temple Square and the Conference Center for 10 years. They met many people from all over the world.
They have enjoyed traveling to many places with family and friends, with special times on Lake Powell and their condo in Bear Lake, where they made great memories. They say their greatest accomplishment is their family that has grown to 70 through the years.
Their children and spouses are Debra Ann and Tyler Sprague, Karen and Steven Holbrook, Janet and Gary Hamblin, Janice and Kirk Mangus, Susan and Robert Beers, Richard Smoot Francis and Triscia Christopolis. They have 30 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. They say their family brings great love and joy to their lives.
