CLEARFIELD -- The first-ever "Sizzling September Night" for people of all ages will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6, at the Davis County Health Department.
The health department is located at 22 South State Street in Clearfield.
The free event is a community health and seniors info fair featuring live music by Sunshade 'n Rain, as well as booths and displays highlighting health, safety, and senior issues.
The family-friendly info fair is sponsored by the health department, the North Davis Senior Activity Center, and the Midtown Community Health Center.
"The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.," said event organizer, Cindy Nielsen. "We encourage everyone to show up anytime between those hours and see what's happening at the southeast corner of Clearfield's Center and State Streets."
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase, with the North Davis Senior Activity Center remaining open for self-guided tours, Nielsen said.
In case of inclement weather, the event to be held on the department lawn, will be moved indoors.
"Our normal hours of operation work just fine for many of the people who use our services and programs," said Lewis Garrett, director of the county health department. "Still there are too many people who aren't aware of what we have to offer. And there are others who can't take advantage of those services because our business hours don't always line up with when they're available," he said.
"Providing this info fair in the early evening is a great way that we can connect with community members when they have the time to visit us," Garrett said. "Also, it never hurts to entertain people while at the same time informing them about a variety of things that may improve their health and well-being."
There will be plenty of parking available on the west side of the health building.
