OGDEN -- Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St. in Ogden, will observe Labor Day weekend on Sunday with the second annual special blessing for those who work, during the 10 a.m. worship service.
Those who wish to be blessed may bring in items that stand for the work they do, and Pastor DanaLee Simon will bless them during the worship service.
Any "tool of their trade" is acceptable, such as a laptop, screwdriver, mop, cellphone, calculator, cookbook, lesson plan book, gloves, logbooks, a cooking utensil, work boots, or the like.
Retired individuals may bring in something that symbolizes the job from which they retired, and students preparing for an occupation may bring something symbolizing the job for which they are preparing.
Any person who cannot bring an object is welcome to come and be blessed without one.
Elim's "Blessing of the Workboots" was featured in an article in the July 2013 issue of "The Lutheran," and similar services are now being held at Lutheran churches across the United States.
