While there are some readers who didn't approve of Cagle's humor on President Obama and his "if I had a son..." cartoon (Aug. 26 edition) I for one would like thank you for the courage in pointing out the glaring hypocrisy of not only the president, but the liberal mainstream media in parading out any white on black crimes like it's the end of civilization while completely ignoring black on black (hundreds of murders every year in Chicago alone) or black on white crimes that make the Trayvon Martin case look frivolous.
One of your recent readers wanted to swap races on the Trayvon case to give us some perspective. Well, let's try that on two recent black on white crimes: suppose the World War II vet who was savagely beaten to death was black and the two kids who did it were white, or the baseball player from Australia who was shot in the back of the head was black and the two kids who were "bored" were actually white and had recently posted on a social media site how much they hated black people.
Does anybody really think President Obama wouldn't have been wading into these two crimes with both feet and grabbing any open microphone he could find to cry about the injustice of it all? If so, put down the liberal Kool-Aid for awhile.
Look, the simple fact is that the president of the United States has no business inserting himself into these race crimes, but if he does he needs to be fair and insert himself into all of them. Otherwise, he risks the charges of hypocrisy or racism that he is facing now.
Again, thanks to Cagle and the Standard-Examiner for showing courage that is sorely lacking from most news outlets.
