Blink and you miss it. Another summer is past, leaving behind a lot of great food memories.
There's something about heat and sunshine that makes things taste better. For instance, during the rest of the year, I don't seek out burgers. But the combination of smoky charcoal and sizzling meat in the outdoors makes them irresistible during a summer cookout with friends or family.
Same with potato salad and coleslaw -- I seldom eat them except during picnics. Summer foods aren't just about the flavors, but the memories that go with them.
