WILLARD -- A Hooper couple was hospitalized Monday evening after a motorcycle accident on Interstate 15 here.
The mishap occurred after the couple had to lay down the Harley motorcycle they were riding in the as they encountered heavy Labor Day traffic just before 6 p.m., said Trooper Lawrence Hopper, public information officer for the Utah Highway Patrol.
"Traffic had slowed and they couldn't stop in time," he said. "They laid the bike down and they all slid. The bike hit the vehicle in front of them, but they did not."
Both were wearing helmets, as well as leather riding gear, or injuries would have been much worse, Hopper said. Both were conveyed to Brigham City Community Hospital.
The 53-year-old male driver was expected to be released Monday evening. His 51-year-old female passenger was admitted overnight for observation. Their names were not immediately available, Hopper said.
