Roger and Lynette Shupe of Ogden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner on Aug. 30.
They met at Weber State College LDS Institute. They were married on Aug. 30, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He was born in Ogden and raised in Hunstville with his 11 siblings. After returning from an LDS mission to Australia, he attended Weber State College and graduated with a degree in education. He taught at Ogden elementary schools for 30 years and is now retired.
She was born and raised in Ogden with her sister. She attended Weber State College and worked for Key Bank as an operations specialist for 32 years and is now retired.
As members of the LDS Church, they have held many callings in the stake and ward levels where they lived. After their retirement, they served a church service mission in Salt Lake City on Temple Square and the Conference Center for five years. They are currently serving at theOgden Cannery.
They have enjoyed traveling, weekend trips to the cabin, fishing, gardening, quilting, golfing, watching grandkids’ sports activities and many family get-togethers.
Their children and spouses are Kevin and Shelly Shupe, Colleen and Scott Shuman, Bryan Shupe, Julie and David Bischoff, and LeiAnne and Tim Price. They have 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one on the way.
