STANSBURY PARK — A 22-month-old Tooele County girl is in critical condition after her 5-year-old brother rolled over her in the family minivan.

Tooele County sheriff’s Sgt. Shandy Lewis says the accident happened a little after 9 a.m. Tuesday outside a daycare center in Stansbury Park.

Lewis says the mother was talking with another woman behind the van when the boy crawled up to the front and put the car into neutral.

Deputies say the girl had been inside the van but tumbled out of the open door and fell beneath the van’s wheels.

Lewis tells KSL it appears the vehicle ran over the girl’s head and body.

She was airlifted to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Lewis called the situation an accident and says the mother won’t face charges.
