NORTH SALT LAKE -- Residential burglaries are down 44 percent this year in comparison to 2012, the latest crime statistics from this community show.
Police Chief Craig Black released a two-year comparison of crime in the community for members of the city council during a recent work session, and for the most part the numbers show crime numbers are down.
Besides residential burglaries, numbers are also down for assaults, sex offenses, larcency/thefts, traffic offenses, arrest and driving under the influence. Numbers went up for alcohol offenses, graffiti, drug offenses, traffic accidents and vehicle thefts.
Black credited some of the improvement in different areas. He noted, for example, that the use of canine units to sniff drugs in legal settings had resulted in more drug arrests.
