She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day-Saints and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.Janis had many jobs including, secretary for the US Navy and Hill Air Force Base; a teacher for Upward Bound and a handicap specialist with Head Start. Janis was an accomplished artist and loved to paint even when it was difficult for her.She loved to hog the TV remote and never let Bob properly learn how to use it.When she no longer had the coordination to write, she learned to use the computer and loved to research family history and keep up with family and friends on Facebook. Janis was not a quitter. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1968, but never succumbed to despair or negative thought - even after becoming wheelchair bound. She also had a genetic disease, Spinocerebellar Ataxia which further caused her complications throughout her life. She maintained a wonderful positive attitude, a witty infectious sense of humor and she was willing to laugh at the occasional absurdity of her condition which caused others to be comfortable and laugh with her. She was a good example to her friends and family. She never spoke negatively of others or of her condition and was always more concerned for the well-being and happiness of her family up to the day she passed away. She never thought of herself, never wallowed in self-pity, never dwelt upon what had been taken from her and she never complained. She faced many physical trials in her life and weathered them with grace, dignity and self-deprecating humor. She was a true example of "enduring to the end". Janis and Bob were travelers who visited Hawaii, Europe, Mexico and Alaska. They spent many Winters in Yuma, Arizona and made many good and lifelong friends. Janis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, lynn Workman and Gary Stewart.
