ROY -- A 23-year-old victim is dead, and police have identified a suspect in an early Sunday morning homicide here.
Police say Ruben Alvarado Nava III is suspected in the shooting.
A news release from Roy Police said people should consider Nava armed and dangerous.
"Investigators were out all day trying to locate him," said Roy City Police spokesman Bryce Weir. He said police have executed a warrant for Nava.
Those with information about Nava's whereabouts are asked to call dispatchers at 801-629-8221.
Weir said police believe the homicide was gang-related.
"There were a number of people there believed to be assosicated with some gang activity," Weir said. "That potentially played a part in this whole thing."
The news release said that shortly after midnight, police were called to the 2900 block of 4650 South on a party disturbance with possible gun shots.
A second caller to police said at least one person had been shot.
The victim was transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced dead, the release said.
Officers from several local agencies helped secure the area and conducted an initial sweep for witnesses, suspects and victims.
The investigation of this incident is ongoing, according to the release.
Roy's last homicide was just last year.
Police found Victor Flores, a Layton man who had been missing, burried in a backyard in February 2012, Weir said.
Sunday's homicide is the second in the Top of Utah in about a week after none were reported previously in 2013.
Ogden Police reported a homicide early in the morning Aug. 31.
Police there are looking for Jeremy David Clement, 18, who was born Sept. 21, 1994.
Officials say Robert Santos Soto Jr., 26, was found dead just after 1 a.m. that Saturday on the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue after witnesses called police saying they heard arguing and then gunshots.
In addition to being wanted for his possible connection with Soto's death, Clement has a no-bail warrant, issued out of 2nd District Court, for possession of and use of a controlled substance, police said.
Those with information about Clement also are asked to call police dispatchers at 801-629-8221.
