BurtClinton W.“Chris” Burtof Bear RiverCity will celebratehis 85thbirthday. Familyand friendsmay attend anopen house inhis honor from2 to 5 p.m onSept. 14 at3550 W. 5600North, Brigham City.

He was born on Sept. 12,1928, in Brigham City to Reginaldand Amelia Burt. He marriedVita Rassmussen on June21, 1948, in The Church of JesusChrist of Latter-day SaintsLogan Temple. They were marriedfor almost 63 years. Theirchildren and spouses are Jackand Cindy Burt, (Kelly deceased)and Sheila Burt, Christineand Dwight Bingham, (Michaeldeceased) and MichelleBurt, James “Jimmy” Burt (deceased),and Douglas and AmyBurt. He has 18 grandchildrenand 14 great-grandchildren. Helater married Louise Tingey onDec. 3, 2011, adding eight children,20 grandchildren and 12great-grandchildren to the family.

He served in many positionsof the LDS Church. He enjoyedbeing a Scoutmaster and coachingchurch ball teams. He enjoysbaseball and played onmany teams. He coached LittleLeague teams for 12 years andmany players still rememberhim. He still raises a garden andfeeds cattle every day.

He has been a farmer andcattleman. He served as statepresident of the Utah YoungFarmers, president of AcmeWater Co., served on the federalland bank’s board of directors,as president of the Ogden AreaBeef Feeders, vice president ofUtah Farm Bureau for 10 years,helped at the Box Elder CountyFair Livestock Auction formany years and still supportsthe fair. He is now chairman ofthe board for the Bear RiverWater Conservancy District.
