CEDAR CITY -- Authorities in southern Utah have destroyed a field of about 1,800 marijuana plants found near a canyon in Iron County.

The Spectrum of St. George reports law enforcement made the bust Monday after getting tipped off to the crop after making an arrest last week.

Police say three people were arrested last week on Interstate 15 in Sevier County by Utah Highway Patrol. They gave police information about the location of the crop.

Iron County Sheriff Mark Gower says the marijuana field was in a secluded area and well camouflaged. He says they would not have found it without the tip.

A police helicopter hauled 20 loads of marijuana plants to a nearby dumpster. The plants measured six to eight feet wide.
