Sep 26 2013 - 7:11pm

ROY -- A fundraiser is planned for a 13-year-old skateboarder who was hit by a vehicle last month.

Sheldon Shaffer, of Clearfield, was skateboarding with his 12-year-old brother Aug. 21, when he rolled into the road, fell off his skateboard and was run over by a passing vehicle. His injuries included broken bones in both legs, a broken pelvis, broken collarbone and damage to internal organs.

A fundraiser for the boy will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Rainbow Saloon, 6054 S. 1900 West, Roy.

Proceeds will be donated to the family to help with medical costs for Sheldon.

"He has gone through many surgeries and has several more to come," bar owner Julie Arthur wrote in an email. "He will be in a rehab center for at least three months."

Several bands will play at the event. The cover charge is $5, which will be donated to the family.

For more information on the event, call 801-776-9678.
