SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City man is accused of being a serial poacher after a tipster reported him boiling a deer head in his apartment.
Richard Guy Unsworth was charged this week with one felony and three misdemeanor counts of wanton destruction of protected wildlife. It wasn't immediately clear whether he had an attorney, and a phone number listed for him wasn't current.
Investigators who were looking into the head-boiling incident in April say the 35-year-old man told them he was trying to make a European mount, which involves removing the skin and muscle of an animal's skull.
Officials say Unsworth also acknowledged other shooting incidents, including firing bucks from his car and returning months later to collect the carcasses.
He reportedly told them he was shooting the animals for "practice."
