GRANTSVILLE -- Authorities say officers fatally shot a man while they were doing a welfare check at a house in Grantsville.
Police say they got a call a little before 8 p.m. Sunday requesting the check on Clark Street.
Grantsville police spokeswoman Alison Peterson says officers who arrived found the man had a gun, and were forced to protect themselves by shooting.
Medical crews were unable to save the man's life.
Police Chief Kevin Turner says three officers are on leave while the Tooele Police Department investigates.
The man's identity, and details about his interaction with police, weren't immediately released.
