BOUNTIFUL -- The Attorney General's Office has charged a 51-year-old Bountiful man with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Jon R. Carlsen was booked and released from the Davis County Jail on Friday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
All of the charges are second-degree felonies and each carries a possible sentence of one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison.
According to court documents, an undercover investigation was done by officers of the Utah Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
An officer, working undercover, requested a file from a computer address on Nov. 26, 2012.
"I received the entire file from the suspect computer and confirmed that it contained images of child pornography," according to a probable cause statement filed in 2nd District Court on Sept. 16, 2013.
Officers then confirmed who owned the IP address from Quest Communication and served a search warrant at Carlsen's address on Feb. 28.
Officers talked to Carlsen, who waived his Miranda rights, and admitted to viewing child pornography from his home computers, according to the documents.
Officers confiscated the computers and sent them to Intermountain West Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory for a search. The search found "3,959 suspicious images and files that were identified as possible child pornography," along with "36 suspicious video files that were also located," according to the document.
