OGDEN -- Police are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting that left a 34-year-old Ogden man in critical condition.
Ogden Major Crimes Lt. Danielle Croyle said police were dispatched around 3:20 a.m. to 259 29th St. on reports of a shooting. The man was found lying on the sidewalk, unresponsive, with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to Ogden Regional Medical Center and remains in critical condition, Croyle said. Police have not released his name.
The Ogden-Metro Gang Unit and Major Crimes Division are investigating the case, Croyle said. Police are considering all avenues regarding the shooting, including the possibility it is related to prior shootings in the area.
Lt. Mark Lowther with the Weber County Sheriff's Office, which has jurisdiction at the medical center, said the hospital requested an increased police presence -- likely consisting of four or five officers -- Tuesday morning. By the afternoon, police operations at the hospital were back to normal.
Police encourage anyone with information about the shooting to call 801-629-8221 or 801-629-8228.
