Utah company takes over Alaska medevac service

SITKA, Alaska -- A Utah-based company is taking over all medevac flights for the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium.

CoastAlaska reportsGuardian Flight of South Jordan, Utah, became the provider on Tuesday.

The company previously covered night service for the Sitka-based medical provider. The consortium previously operated its own medevac service for 12 hours a day, but recently laid off its medevac nurses.

Guardian Flight has bases in eight Alaska cities, including Sitka.
