Grant Walker Schuenman celebrated his 80th birthday on Oct. 4. His family honored him with a dinner at the Timbermine Restaurant & Steak House.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1933, in Ogden to Leona Walker and Richard Franz Hugo Schuenman. He received his early education in Oakland, Calif., and moved back to Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School. He served in the Naval Reserve for eight years and the Army for two years. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 40 years, retiring in 1994.
He married Elizabeth Steed in 1963.
Their six children and their spouses are Gary and Kimber Schuenman, Clark and Michelle Schuenman, Diane and Ron Dockstader, Julie and Todd Thomas, Brent and LaRee Schuenman, and Adam and Kim Schuenman. They were later divorced.
In 1989, he married Ruth Buhler. They currently reside in Clearfield.
He enjoys spending his time working on his 160-acre farm, in his backyard garden, at his son's business, Deseret Fence and Construction, and traveling.
He has 44 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
