ROY -- Items stolen one to two weeks ago from an undercover Roy police officer's car were among those officers Monday announced were recovered after Wasatch County sheriff's deputies arrested a couple who they believe had been breaking into cars in five counties.
Found were a Roy police officer's duty weapon, badge and ballistic vest, along with other items from various vehicle break-ins.
Reports said authorities in Salt Lake, Summit, Utah, Wasatch and Weber counties were looking for Dwayne Harrison Sandridge, 45, and Kimberly Monique Martinez, 23, when the two were arrested Thursday.
Officers later also obtained search warrants for the couple's house and vehicle, reports said.
Roy Police spokesman Officer Bryce Weir said he didn't believe the couple was targeting police cars.
"This was part of a whole string of these," Weir said. "It was kind of dumb luck coming across a police car."
Weir said everything stolen from the undercover car was recovered except the officer's wallet.
Weir said the police car was broken into while parked in a parking lot in Weber County.
