OGDEN -- The Weber County Republican Women will meet at noon today at Jeremiah's Restaurant, 1207 W. 1200 South, just east of the Interstate 15, 12th Street exit.
Cost is $15.
Guest speaker will be newly elected state Republican Party Chairman James Evans, who will explain the current challenge to the caucus system and how to help to preserve the grassroots feature of Utah elections, a news release states.
Evans was a state senator from a district that was 65 percent Democrat, but "won the election by knocking on more than 2000 doors and convincing unaffiliated voters why Republican principals should appeal to more people," according to the release.
He served four years as Salt Lake County party chairman and increased Central Committee attendance from a low of 60 to approximately 500 members attending, the release states. He also raised more than $1 million for the Republican Party and Republican candidates combined.
