The Utah High School Cycling League's third race of the season will offer plenty of altitude, and maybe a little attitude on Saturday as the prep mountain bikers converge on Snowbasin Resorts and its popular course.
Action begins at 10 a.m.
In the last races, held Sept. 28 at Park City's Round Valley Course, the weather conditions were dicey, only adding to the challenge for the races.
Park City High's Haley Batten made the best of the conditions, besting the field by a considerable gap to extend her points lead after winning both races of the 2013 season. Teammate Brenna Egan took second and Ogden High's Cate Carabine took third, breaking up the Park City sweep.
In the boys varsity race, South Davis Composite star Zach Peterson and defending state champion Justin Griffin of Olympus battle, with Griffin edging the field. Weber's Anders Johnson was third overall.
In the overall team standings, Park City High leads Corner Canyon High in the Division 1 rankings and South Davis Composite leads North Davis Composite in Division 2 after two rounds.
In the boys JV competition, Ogden's Jacom Mathewson won his race. In the boys JV2 competition, Hayden Sampson of North Davis was the winner.
After this week's races, the teams will conclude the regular season on Oct. 26 at Soldier Hollow. The state finals will be Nov. 9 in Moab.
