ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A 9-year-old Ann Arbor school girl has won a place in Guinness World Records with a hula hoop.

Mridula Shanker is a fourth grade student at Northside Elementary School.

She got notice this week that she’s established the record for the most hula hoop rotations on the leg in the arabesque positions in one minute. She made 166 rotations in the arabesque pose, which is a ballet move in which one leg is off the ground and extended behind the torso.

MLive.com says she attempted the feat in May at Northside.

She says it was a challenge to beat the previous record of 104.

She’s also set a Guinness record for hula hoop rotations around her waist while standing on one leg.
