Morgan grabs early lead, holds on to beat Grantsville

GRANTSVILLE -- Whatever league they are in, the Trojans and Cowboys will be ready for battle.

Morgan and Grantsville locked horns on Friday night in a 3-A North league battle. The Trojans built and early lead then held on for a nice 17-14 victory.

The Trojans are 4-0 in region play, and on collision course for a season-ending battle with Judge Memorial.

Matt Murdock and Ben Saunders each found paydirt while kicker Luke Little added a 31-yard field goal and two PATs to keep the Trojans perfect in region action.

* BEAR RIVER 62, PARK CITY 13: At Park City, the Miners never really knew what hit them.

Locked in a first-half battle in which Park City led 14-13, Bear River got its offense untracked and rumbled for 48 points and the blowout win.

The high-scoring Bears offense has already scored 64 and 62 points earlier in the season.

* UINTAH 47, BEN LOMOND 12: At Vernal, the Utes jumped out to an early lead and the cruised to the 3-AA North victory.

Braxton Coonis completed 14 of 19 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns; Tyson Colton had 69 yards and three TDs on nine rushes; and Dillon Hanks had 13 total tackles and a 15-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown for Uintah.

Ben Lomond got on the scoreboard in the first half on a 4-yard run from Jonathan Gross.

In the second half, Gross and Julian Gomez hooked up on a 60-yard scoring play.

The Scots are still in search of their win of the football season.
