LAYTON -- The public is invited to join with hundreds of motorcycle riders in an effort to raise toys Saturday.
The second annual Utah Motorcycle Ride for Toys for Tots is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Standard Plumbing parking lot, 870 W. Hill Field Road in Layton, next to Walmart.
The public may arrive ahead of the start and receive treats from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Coffee for their toy donations.
Last-minute riders also may register for free starting at 8 a.m. by donating new toy in its original packaging. Organizers ask that no one bring a stuffed animal or a coloring book.
"There's nothing like a kid getting a present at Christmas," said ride coordinator Bill Darnell.
He said he spent seven years of his youth in an orphanage and wanted to give back.
There will be a blessing of the bikes at 8:55 a.m.
The ride will end at a pavilion at Depot Street and White Drive in Business Depot Ogden.
The public is invited to attend. For those with toy donations, lunch will be provided by Famous Dave's.
Any monetary donations will be sent to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program.
The Scotty Haze Band will perform at this event.
