MORGAN -- A 1-year-old boy was flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center Saturday afternoon after falling in a ditch with standing water near his home.
At about 11:30 a.m., near the Stoddard Lane area, a woman was baby-sitting her grandson when the incident happened. Both were in the backyard when she reportedly turned her back for a few minutes then found the boy in a ditch, facedown in some water, Morgan County Sgt. Jason Lee said.
It is unknown how deep the water was.
She picked the boy up who was unresponsive and brought him to a neighbor's house. The neighbor called emergency services and began performing CPR on the child, Lee said.
A Morgan County Sheriff's deputy arrived and continued the CPR until a LifeFlight helicopter arrived, Lee said.
The boy was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
The child was reported in critical condition as of Saturday evening, Lee said. Morgan County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the incident.
