Royce E. Johnson of Taylor passed away October 10, 2013.He was born December 1, 1938 in Preston, Idaho to Rolena Hendricks and John Edwin Johnson. Royce graduated from Davis High School in 1956. He was active in athletics and sang in the school choir with his future wife, Shyrol. They both had beautiful voices and sang together often.
Royce married Donna Shyrol Warnock on June 14, 1958 in Kaysville, Utah.
He was the owner/operator of a service station, sold cars and worked for UTA. He had a passion for horses and was a true horseman. He participated in the Beehive and Wasatch Slopes Chariot/Cutter races and while in his youth participated in car racing. He was an owner, breeder and trainer of Flat Track racing horses, his influence still continues today.
Royce is survived by his daughter, Krista Rose (Shayne); four grandchildren, Meranda and Alicia Rose, Tyson and Brianne Johnson, which he loved dearly; his brother, Allen Johnson (Judy) and many close dear friends that loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shyrol and his son, Troy.
A viewing will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. followed by Graveside services at 2 p.m. at the Hooper Cemetery, 5350 S. 6300 W.
