Falcons fall on road in rugged Region 6 tilt

KEARNS -- Forgive the Clearfield Falcons if they feel worn down this morning.

The Falcons were run over by Amone Finau and Co. on Thursday afternoon, as Kearns walloped Clearfield 37-7 in Region 6 football action.

Finau ran for a pair of scores and caught a 75-yard TD pass from Daniel Tapusoa to lead the Cougars to the league win.

Clearfield trailed 16-0 at the break. QB Rick Martinez and Jaden Markos hooked up on a 37-yard scoring play to give the Falcons a little momentum.

But the Finau had a pair of scoring TDs to put the game out of reach.

The Falcons (1-8 overall, 0-6 league) close out their season next Friday at Viewmont (1-8).

* EAST 49, BOUNTIFUL 14: At Salt Lake City, Bountiful was the latest in a long line of Region 6 team to try and match weapons with the Leopards.

Ula Tolutau rushed for three touchdowns as East jumped all over Bountiful en route to the region victory.

The Leopards led 35-7 at the half and rolled from there to improve to 9-0.

* RICH 41, ALTAMONT 14: At Laketown, Cache Sabey and Joseph Leifson both scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first half as Rich jumped out to a comfortable 35-7 halftime lead and never looked back in the region victory.


* MORGAN DEF. DELTA, 3-2: At Delta, the Trojans traveled to take on one of the top teams in the 2-A ranks in Thursday's non-league battle.

The host Rabbits battled hard to protect their home court, but Morgan emerged with a 25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 23-25, 15-6 victory.

Jaden Farr had 13 kills, two aces, six digs, one block for the Trojans. Kennedy Wortman had 13 kills, one ace for Morgan, which is tuning up for another state 3-A tournament run.
