With all the controversy over electronic cigarettes, I felt compelled to write this letter. First of all, everyone knows that smoking is not good for anyone. Secondly, those who smoke are looking for a healthier way of doing so, and some are even looking to quit. With so many nay-sayers giving uneducated opinions to those who know nothing about electronic "vaping," I would like to give them a few facts.
Tobacco companies are against it because they have a shortfall in tobacco sales. Pharmaceutical companies are against it because they will no longer make money on the patches, gum, and prescription drugs. Doctors are against it because patients are no longer seeking professional help to obtain these drugs. Those involved in the smoking cessation classes, etc. are against it because they will no longer have jobs.
All three of those methods do not work and have less than a 10 percent success rate. I have seen people that use patches, put on three or more at a time, or three to five pieces of nicotine gum in their mouths. So, to say it is regulated through the medical profession is not true. It is only safe if used as directed.
Electronic Cigarettes have over a 30 percent success rate! Unlike regular cigarettes, there is no second-hand-smoke, no tar or carcinogens, which blacken the lungs and cause cancer. There is no odor, ashtrays or butts. You can purchase juice with or without nicotine, which if smokers use as recommended, is safe and allows them five levels to step down to a zero nicotine.
E-Cigs work because smokers have two habits. First being the hand-to-mouth habit, and second being the nicotine. If you treat it the old fashioned way, pills, patches, gum etc., you are only treating one addiction, the nicotine. It has been proven that people go back to smoking.
E-Cigs treat both addictions until people are ready to give it up all together. Don't judge others who are trying to improve their quality of life through an alternative manner. Also, an uneducated opinion is as bad as a lie or gossip.
