GARLAND -- Park City and Bear River matched athleticism and speed on Saturday in the state 3-A girls soccer quarterfinals, with the visiting Miners winning 1-0.
"They are a good team. Both teams were poised and athletic," Bear River coach Gene Wilcox said. "I am very proud of our girls. They left it all out there."
Park City's MaKenzie Bothner scored just after halftime. Miners goalkeeper Hannay Hyatt and Bear River keeper Terrell Womack were each solid in goal.
"We had som runs, but they were able to match our speed," Wilcox said. "Their keeper just didn't gave anything up."
The Bears (13-3-1) will lose six seniors from this year's squad.
No Top of Utah teams will be in next week's 2-A and 3-A tournaments.
