Over the past four plus years I have had the opportunity to work with the Ogden City Council as a member of the Ogden School Board. These two entities operate to benefit the city and its citizens, and while we have separate missions and responsibilities, as these two organizations work together, we can accomplish much to build and rebuild a city that has a strong educational base, efficient new and remodeled schools, and places in the community where the community can meet and come together.
The city works to provide safe access to schools, keeping roads cleared in the winter, working to build and maintain safe sidewalks and walking paths, and supports programs within each school to support its young citizens. There have been many joint resolutions between these two entities to prove this collaborative effort.
Doug Stephens, as a member of the Ogden City Council, is a proponent of getting these projects done and supporting the young people in this community so they are safe as they get to and from school. He also works with the different groups to help provide educational benefits to the families in Ogden. He is readily accessible and is willing to listen, ask questions, and learn about the issues before he makes his decisions. He takes great care in studying the issues. When he makes his decision, it is not rashly said just to get some public attention.
He also understands and knows the role that each entity plays in the community. Ogden City Council has a role in city government and the school district has a role in government. Each individual is elected to do their job within that role and not claim the ability to take over another entities role. Doug gets it.
This year as the elections come, I would encourage you to study who truly understands the issues and acts accordingly. I believe that then, you will choose to re-elect Doug Stephens.
