SOUTH OGDEN -- A fugitive with a history of trouble with the law was arrested Monday night, fewer than 24 hours after he escaped capture by leading officers on a high-speed chase.
South Ogden officer Marci Edwards said an anonymous tip led officers to Brodey Brown, 26, who was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, without incident, near 5600 S. Meadow Lane. He was booked into Weber County Jail.
Brown's eventful Monday began when Tremonton officers pulled him over on Main Street, shortly after 4 a.m., for failure to dim his headlights. He then allegedly fled, leading the officers through Tremonton and Garland, before hitting northbound Interstate 15, where chase speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour. Officers ended the pursuit because there weren't Idaho officers near the state border.
Brown had been wanted for allegedly skipping bail on two felony charges filed in August, a first-degree count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and a third-degree count of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, according to court documents. An arrest warrant was filed against him on Oct. 16 in 2nd District Court in Ogden.
Court records show Brown has a history in the court system. His first criminal conviction came in 2005, when he pleaded guilty to DUI. Multiple felony charges stemming from separate incidents followed in the ensuing year, including joyriding, possession of a controlled substance and failure to stop at the command of a police officer.
However, following the failure to stop at the command of an officer charge, filed in 2006, Brown had steered clear of any further trouble in the courts until August's charges. According to court records, he had successfully completed two years in drug court, from 2009 to 2011.
As of Tuesday morning, additional charges for Monday's police chase had not been filed. Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance said Monday that police would be pursuing charges for the incident.
