Regarding the Oct. 18 news article, "GOP caucus scuttles judge nomination" is it any wonder why the folks are so disgusted by the shameful antics of people like Sen. Scott Jenkins? In the article, Sen. Jenkins is quoted as saying, "I absolutely fought for her."
Commissioner Catherine Conklin was torpedoed from consideration for the vacant 2nd District Court judge's position in Weber County. In a 3-1 vote to recommend Conklin for the job, Sen. Scott Jenkins, R-Plain City, was the only "no" vote. Wow! The old switch-hitter routine! In public, he supports Conklin, but behind closed doors; well, he is quoted as saying, " I was in the heat of the battle." Sure you were Mr. Jenkins! Honesty and integrity, who needs it?
In the words of that worthy elder statesman, John Kerry, "I was for the war before I was against it."
Whatever happened to that old-fashioned and forgotten concept of talking a stand and then sticking with it? Locally and in Washington (including Sen. Scott Jenkins), is getting re-elected, the only thing that matters?
I would be willing to wager that Sen. Scott Jenkins thinks he is doing a great job.
