Clyde O. Flinn of North Ogden will celebrate his 90th birthday. An open house will be held in his honor from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 27, at his home in North Ogden.
The third of four children, he was born on Oct. 29, 1932, to Selvyn A. and Loie Robinson Flinn in Mineral Wells, W. Va. When he was a teenager, he moved with his family to Congress, Ohio. In 1951, he moved to Van Nuys, Calif., where he worked for Marquardt Corp., owned a body shop and called square dances.
He came from California with the Marquardt Corp. in 1957, when the plant in Ogden was started. He started a beginners square dance class that later become the Red Hots. He also called for the Hoop'n Hollers.
He changed careers in 1973 and became an agent for State Farm Insurance. After his 32nd year with the company, he retired in 1995.
He has four children, three stepchildren, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
