Helen Stuart of Pleasant View celebrated her 80th birthday with a family dinner at the home of Mark and Cherie Stuart.
The sixth of eight children, she was born on Nov. 1, 1933, in Hyrum to Garland and Verba Haws. She is a 1951 graduate of South Cache High School.
She married William R. Stuart in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They have enjoyed more than 62 years of marriage. The couple shared a double wedding with her brother and his sister: Dale Haws and Joyce Stuart on June 15, 1951.
She worked at Hill Air Force Base during the Korean War as a sheet metal worker (Rosie the Riveter), retiring in November 1970. She also worked in the Weber County lunch program.
An active member of the Pleasant View 4th Ward for 47 years, she served in many church callings, including the Ogden LDS Temple with her husband. She enjoys cooking, quilting, porcelain, and ceramics at the North View Senior Center. She has enjoyed traveling on guided land tours and sea cruises.
Her seven married children live within five miles from them: Susan and Brent Isakson, Gary and Cydnee Stuart, Douglas and Valerie Stuart, Denise and Richard Curtis, Brent and Gay Ann Stuart, Craig and Teresa Stuart, and Mark and Cheri Stuart. She has 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren with four on the way. She also has three step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
She enjoys her family and serving family dinners often.
