KAYSVILLE -- Police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Brendon Eric Rackham was with the girl Sunday, in her basement. The girl told police Rackham tried to inappropriately touch her several times, despite her trying to stop him. His alleged attempts stopped only when the girl's father found Rackham at the home.
Rackham admitted to police to cuddling with the girl, though the affidavit does not indicate he admitted to anything further.
According to the affidavit, Rackham knew the girl was 14, as the two had talked about her age more than once.
Police arrested Rackham Thursday and booked him into Davis County Jail on nine counts of suspected sexual assault.
Police are also investigating allegations that Rackham sent the girl sexually explicit messages, which could lead to enticement-of-a-minor charges, according to the affidavit.
The extent of the relationship when the incident allegedly occurred was not clear.
Calls to the Kaysville Police Department seeking further details were not immediately returned Friday.
As of Friday afternoon, formal charges had not been filed against Rackham.
