When Obama was elected president in 2008, Rahm Emanuel, who became his chief of staff and David Axelrod, his campaign specialist said, "A recession is a terrible thing to waste" This, of course, was the prelude to the Obama desire to usurp power on matters constitutionally left to the Congress and the judiciary. I cannot recall how many times the president asked Congress to do something they were not inclined to do, saying "if you don't act I will;" and he did, running into opposition from Republicans and some Democrats. Then the Obama crowd reverted to the Alinsky Doctrine, which was; don't get into a conversation with your opponent, that humanizes them. Instead taunt them, agitate them, belittle them, label them as extremists, racist and dangerous and personalize your dispute.
I am not yet prepared to call Obama a dictator because of some unpleasant comparisons, but he is clearly "pushing the envelope." Dictators don't "negotiate, and dictators don't need to explain or justify their actions. I will explain: The Obama crowd have not yet clarified for the American people what happened at Benghazi and have refused to let eye witnesses testify. Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, said, "What difference does it make now?" It makes a huge difference to the families who lost loved ones in the terrorist attack. One terrorist attack was actually categorized as "workplace violence." This deprived the soldiers killed of the benefit due all servicemen killed on active duty or in defense of their country.
Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act was not written by Obama or by Harry Reid or the Democrats under his leadership, or even Nancy Pelosi, then Speaker of the House. In fact, every one of them has admitted they have not personally read the bill. And they denied the Republicans access to read it themselves. The bill was written by liberal democrats over a long period of time, even before Hillary Clinton's effort to write the health laws for all Americans, and it was pulled out by the bureaucrats and given to Obama and passed by the Senate in the middle of the night. Nearly every Democrat voted for it and nearly every Republican voted against it, saying "we want to read the bill first! How can we pass a bill we haven't even read?" Nancy Pelosi responded, "You don't need to read it, now, you will find out after it passes."
This is like having a car dealer tell you, "you don't need to know the make or model of the car or its color and how many passengers it will hold. And you don't need to know what the auto costs. You will find out when you drive it and when you must start making payments.
On the issue of Obamacare, President Obama tells the Congress "they cannot amend the law, but he himself has done so many times. For example, he has given businesses a year's delay before implementation. He has exempted several labor unions including the employees of the White House and the employees of Congress. The national press is so enamored by Obama they are promoting the idea that the Republicans are causing all these problems. Obama and his attorney general have refused to explain how and why a decision was made to give military type arms to Mexican criminals and drug lords, which resulted in the murder of an American border guard and others.
On another occasion the administration refused to grant wives and mothers sufficient funds to travel to Dover Air Force Base to receive the bodies of their loved ones killed in Afghanistan. Frankly it causes me to believe that Obama, personally and those around him, have a personal disdain for the military. Unlike Benghazi, the military has always gone to the rescue of their comrades even when the risks were great. And we have always provided financial help for the widows' husbands and sons killed in action. It is disgraceful that -- for a while -- a private charity had to step in and solely provide this service. The excuses of the administration; that they did not understand the law is pitiful.
The latest dictatorial acts that would be most disruptive and painful to the American people are shutting down the national parks and denying access to the White House. It is strongly believed that the White House instructed the National Park Service to make the shutdown as inconvenient as possible.
They did not give their names for fear they would lose their jobs. The story was reported by "Forbes and the Washington Post." But the fact that they removed the handles to the water fountains gives credence to their statement and the ill will of the administration.
It is impossible to understand why they put fences around open-air monuments like the World War II monuments when it took more effort, labor and costs to put up the fence with officers on duty to prevent entry rather than to leave it alone. It is also unbelievable that they would not even let people stand outside the parks and take photographs. I believe that it was just plain "damn meanness."
Time will tell us from whence these problems came and, ultimately who bares the responsibility. I think one has to conclude that it is the person or associates who say, "We Won!
Therefore, we don't have to explain and we will not negotiate." If this is not dictatorship it is awfully close to it. You decide for yourself.
