Tonia Johanna deJong Muir of Ogden celebrated her 80th birthday at a family dinner and party.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1933, in Nijmegen, Netherlands, to Pieter and Henriette Mariejeanne deJong. She married James Albert Muir Jr. in 1959 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints St. George Temple.
The seventh of 10 children, she was the only member of her family to immigrate to the United States. She moved to New York in 1955. She also lived in Rexburg, Idaho, and San Francisco, before coming to Utah.
She met her future husband, James Albert Muir, on a blind date in Ogden. They were married for 49 years before his death in 2009.
Their children and their spouses are Elizabeth "Lesa" and Bart Pringle, Linda and Arthur Pluim, and Al and Amanda Muir. She has 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
